The IRTG 2057 is a interdisziplinary research project, vice spokesperson for the Computer Science Department is Prof. Hans Hagen. The graduate school finances the research for the next 4.5 years in the field of Physical Modelling for Virtual Manufacturing. The international partners are UC Davis, University of Utah and Berkeley, University of California.
Das Innovationszentrum Applied System Modeling vom Land Rheinland-Pfalz und der Fraunhofer Gesellschaft gefördert, unterstützt und beschleunigt den Transfer von innovativen Forschungsergebnissen aus der Grundlagenforschung in die industrielle Praxis. Damit wird eine enge Brücke zwischen Wissenschaft und Praxis etabliert. Daneben widmet sich das Zentrum der praxisnahen Weiterbildung des Wissenschaftlichen Nachwuchses. Im Informatikbereich sind der Fachbereich Informatik und das Fraunhofer IESE beteiligt.

The main goal of the ZNT is the strengthening of the core competencies in the domain of commercial vehicle technology in Kaiserslautern. The ZNT coordinates the research projects in the scope of commercial vehicles and the communication between the university's research groups and external cooperation partners.
iGreen is a project of the Federal Ministry of Education an Research. It intends to develop and realize a network of location-based services and knowledge, which shall integrate various public and private information sources. The primary field of application of iGreen is crop production, where decision making is basicly affected by space- and time-related information.
